According to the Vice-Chancellor of the Research and Technology of The University of Guilan and based on the announcement of the Islamic World Science and Technology Citation and Monitoring Institute (ISC), four faculty members of The University of Guilan were ranked among the top 1 percent of the most cited researchers in the world.

According to this report, which was extracted from the Essential Science Indicators (ESI) database, Dr. Farhad Shirini, a member of the Faculty of Chemistry in chemistry subject area, Dr. Reza Ansari Khalkhali, a member of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, and Dr. Mohammad Ali Mirzazadeh, a member of the faculty of and Engineering and Technology of easter Gilan, in the multidisciplinary subject area, and Dr. Davoud Khojsteh Salkoye, a member of the Faculty of Mathematics in the field of mathematics, were included in the list of the top 1% of the world's most cited Iranian researchers.
