On the second day of the annual meeting of the Association of State Universities and Research Centers of the Caspian Sea Countries, which is being held in Astrakhan, Russia, a delegation from the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology of the Islamic Republic of Iran, headed by the university of Guilan, met with the officials of member universities of the association. Joint scientific cooperations were reviewed and emphasis was placed on the implementation of the previous memorandums of the member universities of the association and focusing on new educational and research methods in these cooperations.
Dr. Mohammad Doostar, chancellor of The University of Guilan and head of the delegation of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in a meeting with fellow members of the Association, announced the readiness of The University of Guilan to fully support joint educational and research activities and said “The University of Guilan as the Iranian Secretariat of the Association of State Universities and Research Centers of the Caspian Sea region countries have tried to establish coordination with other Iranian members of the Association and to establish proper connections with other member universities of the Association in Kazakhstan, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan.
Dr. Mohammad Doostar added that currently, 21 universities, science and technology parks, and research institutes are members of the Iranian Secretariat of the Association of State Universities and Research Centers of Caspian Sea Countries, and during last year 4 new membership requests from Iranian research and educational centers were received by The University of Guilan
The chancellor of the University of Guilan explained the process of reviewing the application for membership in the association and added that new applications, according to the approval of the Iranian secretariat of the association member, will first be raised among the Iranian members, and if they agree to the membership, they will be referred to the annual meeting of the association.
Dr. Doostar, in the continuation of his meetings with the presidents of member universities of the Association, emphasized the cultural, historical, scientific, and technological capacities of the Caspian Sea countries and stated that these capacities have led to the formation of useful research collaborations between these institutions, and without a doubt, the holding of such meetings will provide the basis for more knowledge and correct policy regarding cooperation on the issues of the Caspian Sea.
It is worth mentioning that the 26th annual meeting of the members of the Association of State Universities and Research Centers of Caspian Sea countries is being held at the Astrakhan State Technical University of Russia with the presence of members of this regional scientific institution.
