The second international conference on the status of the Russian language in Iran and looking toward Eurasia was held at The University of Guilan with the presence of the Consul General of the Russian Federation in Rasht, the chancellor of The University of Guilan, researchers, professors, and students.
In this conference, Dr. Mohammad Doostar, chancellor of The University of Guilan, referring to the approach of The University of Guilan in developing science, culture and strengthening international relations, said that one of our important pillars in The University of Guilan is the international communication and scientific cooperation with universities and research institutes of other countries and the establishment of the  "Russkiy Mir" Foundation office in The University of Guilan is one of the valuable achievements that has provided the possibility of scientific and cultural interactions between Iranian and Russian universities to spread the Russian language and culture in different countries including Iran.
He also stated that The University of Guilan is the permanent secretariat of the Association of State Universities of the Caspian Sea Region Countries, and clarified that This Association, which consists of the universities of the countries along the Caspian Sea, was established to promote scientific and research cooperation.  The University of Guilan as the secretariat is responsible for the coordination and advancement of the scientific and educational projects of this association and so far, there have been held programs such as student and professor exchange, implementation of joint research projects, and international conferences.
Referring to the annual meeting of the Association of State Universities of the Caspian Sea Region Countries, which was held in Astrakhan, Russia, to expand scientific and research cooperation, Dr. Doostar noted that The University of Guilan always strives to improve the scientific level and strengthen international relations. Holding the 2nd international conference on the status of the Russian language in Iran and looking toward Eurasia was to provide a suitable platform for the gathering of professors, researchers, and those interested in Russian language and literature as well as cultural, social, and economic issues between Iran and Eurasian countries.
Andrey Vadov, Consul General of the Russian Federation in Rasht, also stated that the Russian language is one of the official languages of the United Nations and is the language of diplomacy in international negotiations, and added that more than 250 million people in the world speak Russian, which plays an important role in the relations between nations, the connection between many countries and ethnicities, maintaining relations between governments, etc.
Emphasizing the importance of mastering the Russian language in the field of scientific interactions and international cooperation, he considered learning this language to be an important competitive advantage for its learners.
Dr. Shahram Nabati, a member of the faculty of the Russian language department and the scientific secretary of the conference, also stated that 100 articles have been received by the secretariat of the conference and said that 80 of these articles were accepted and presented. Also, He considered holding the international conference of the Russian language in Gilan and looking at Eurasia as a valuable step in the direction of introducing the capabilities of The University of Guilan on the Russian language, as well as providing a platform for establishing scientific relations and presenting the latest research and activities of researchers in the field of Russian language.
It is worth mentioning the exchange of views on issues related to teaching Russian language in Iran, Russian literature in Iran, problems and solutions of translating Russian and Persian texts, issues related to Russian language and culture, online teaching of Russian language and literature, cultural and historical approaches, Religious, political and economic issues in Iran-Eurasia relations, political, legal and economic issues in Iran-Eurasia relations, the role of geography and tourism in Iran-Eurasia relations, issues of the Union of Universities of Caspian Sea countries are among the main topics of this conference.
