Department of Civil Engineering
About
This department of civil engineering is a part of Faculty of Technology and Engineering (Eastern Guilan) of the University of Guilan. Established in 2014, the department focuses on developing knowledge and skills required for students to become practicing civil engineers. The department curriculum equips students with a strong foundation in engineering science. The program makes graduated students ready to engage with planning, supervision, management, construction and maintenance projects. The undergraduate program is to produce well- balanced graduates who are able to begin a career as a Civil Engineer, or continue their education at higher levels. The offered courses are constantly updated and are responsive to the industry trends and demands, putting students at the forefront of infrastructure engineering.
Most of classes will take place at the Kalachai city campus; however, some laboratory classes are held at a nearby suburban campus.
Mission and Vision
Community excellence is our main goal in all our endeavors. We pursue this excellence through growth in academic environments. We are trying to train students who are innovative, aware of modern technology, the needs of society and the world and bounded by professional ethics. We are aware that a welcoming academic environment is essential to the success of the community.

Facilities and Equipment
The Department of Civil Engineering of the Faculty of Technology and Engineering (Eastern Guilan) has three laboratories, including Concrete Technology Lab., soil mechanics Lab. and hydraulics (fluid mechanics) Lab. In addition, for more sophisticated tests, the laboratories of the main campus of the University of Guilan at Rasht, are also accessible.

Title
Metaheuristics: Outlines, MATLAB Codes and Examples
Authors
Ali Kaveh
Taha Bakhshpoori
Originally published March 29, 2019 Publisher Springer Description The book presents eight well-known and often used algorithms besides nine newly developed algorithms by the first author and his students in a practical implementation framework.
Matlab codes and some benchmark structural optimization problems are provided. The aim is to provide an efficient context for experienced researchers or readers not familiar with theory, applications and computational developments of the considered metaheuristics.
The information will also be of interest to readers interested in application of metaheuristics for hard optimization, comparing conceptually different metaheuristics and designing new metaheuristics.
