About


The Department of Islamic Theology, as one of the educational groups of the University, is in charge of providing general courses of Islamic studies for all academic fields at different levels, using experts in the field of Islamic Sciences.

The mission of this group involves to create insight and improve the level of information in different stages of Islamic culture and education, to create commitment and motivation towards Islamic values and preserving the achievements of the Islamic Revolution through providing the necessary trainings in the form of general Islamic education courses, counseling and other respective activities. Teaching and researching students and improving the level of knowledge and skills of group members through holding courses to acquire research, teaching and evaluation skills and using new technology is necessary for this.

Established in 1981, the department of Islamic Theology of University of Guilan is located on the Third floor of Faculty of Literature and Humanities. Currently, the department has 12 full-time faculty members (including 1 associate professors and 11 assistant professors. Due to the variety of the courses, about 40 visiting teachers participate in the department periodically.

The courses represented by the department of Islamic Theology concentrate on six specialized areas including Islamic Revolution, Theoretical Foundations of Islam, Islamic Ethics, Islamic Thought, Human in Islam, Islamic History and Civilization, Familiarity with Islamic Source and, History of Culture and Civilization of Islam and Iran.

    The department of Islamic Theology helps student to understand Islamic ideas and values through research and teaching in its six specialized areas. With the depicting the Islamic way of thinking and life, we try to help them in better understanding of Iranian society.
  • Research

    Our faculty members are engaged in research about Islamic issues related to their professions. Islamic thought, Political Sociology, History of Iran and Islam, Islamic Philosophy and Theology. The department also has a specialized library with more than a thousand books and in various subjects.
