Department of Mechanical Engineering at University of Guilan was founded in 1977 after obtaining approval from the ministry of Higher Education. It opened its doors to students in September 1977 offering an associate degree in mechanical engineering. The mechanical engineering department started to admit students at the level of bachelor degree in fluid mechanics and solid mechanics in 1985 and 1992 respectively. With the development of the department in terms of education, research and human resources, in 2013 it was agreed to upgrade the department to the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. Since October 2016, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering has officially and independently started working based on three independent departments.
